Spring Season Information

4/19 Update:

We just got word from the City that the Marlboro grass fields will remain closed through the weekend and the next update will be Monday.

Have a good weekend,
Adam

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4/13 Update:

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that after conversations with the City we have decided that the fields will be closed for the weekend. For those Grade 3 and above teams that are scheduled to play in another town the coaches will verify the status of those field and let you know.

We are all disappointed that the fields are not ready but with the weather we have had and the extra work that the City has been forced to do to clean up all of the brush etc the fields are just not ready.

Hopefully the weather over the next week won't be as bad as predicted so that the field preparation can be completed and the field conditions will be good enough to start the season next weekend.

Have a great weekend and school vacation week.
Adam

4/5 Update: The fields will not be open for this weekend (4/7).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone,

As we prepare for the season to begin I wanted to bring a couple of items to your attention to ensure that the season runs smoothly.

The first thing everyone asks is are the fields open. As of right now they are not open but we will keep the website updated with the current status (updated daily by 3pm). The forecast doesn't look great for this week but we will see. Since Grade 3 and older teams travel to other towns you may have a game even if our fields are closed so we need to prepare for games this weekend. Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 are schedule to start next weekend (4/14) but again it will be dependent on the fields being released to us and their condition.

Everyone should show up early and be prepared to start games and practices on time.  Players can wear sneakers or soccer cleats, but no baseball/softball or football cleats.  Shin guards must be worn for practices and games.  There should be no jewelry other than medical alerts, no exceptions (earrings can be removed from newly pierced ears and replaced after the game/practice without any issues).  These rules are for the safety of all the players.

Everyone should read the Zero Tolerance Policy ( click here to view policy) and MYS Code of Conduct (included below). We are an organization that follows these policies and expects our volunteers, players and parents to as well.  If you have any questions, please let me know because everyone will be held accountable for their actions and adherence to both policies.

Parents should cheer for their children but not try to coach them.   We have coaches to work with the players and often a parent giving advice to a player only confuses the player especially if their instructions go against what the coach has asked them to do.

Please remember youth soccer is about development, winning means absolutely nothing.

We are looking forward to a great season,

Adam Matthews
President
Marlboro Youth Soccer

Code of Conduct

  • Through submitting the membership application for my child, I also am a member of the Club, and am therefore subject to the Club's rules, and to the rules and regulations of the organizations to which the Club belongs.
  • My child plays soccer for his or her benefit, not mine.
  • I will not give instructions to players -- that is the coach's role.
  • I will never question the referee's judgment, integrity or honesty.
  • I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of soccer.
  • At all times I will show respect for the players, the coaching team, referees, and opposing players and coaches.
  • I will teach my child that doing one's best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
  • I will make my child feel like a winner by offering praise for competing fairly and doing their best.
  • I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child's team and their opponents.
  • I will make sure that my child arrives for practices and games at the time designated by the coach.
  • I realize that the team can be penalized for my behavior. I will obey a request by a referee or from the team's coach to leave the vicinity of the field.
