==============================

Each season the league offers a series of technical skills clinics.  These sessions are run by coaches from Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and give our players another opportunity outside of their regular practice sessions held by their coaches to learn the fundamental skills of soccer.  Repetition and practice are key for players to grow and expand their abilities in any sport, so I hope everyone can attend and utilize this opportunity.

Cost:   There is no cost to attend,  the league is offering these sessions free to all registered players.

What to Bring:       Players should come dressed to play soccer

                            Weather appropriate gear

                            Cleats and Shin Guards

                            A ball

                            Water/Drink

When:   Clinics will be offered 5 nights a week between 5:30 and 7:30

On Memorial Day Monday May 27th.

Clinics will follow the field closures on the Marlboro Youth Soccer web site, if the clinic field is marked as closed,

there will be no clinics on that day.   Field updates are usually posted by 4:00 daily so keep in eye on the web site

if the weather has been bad.

In order to ensure we have sufficient coaching staff, please only attend the sessions for your childs school grade.

Spring Season Information

Hi Everyone,

As we prepare for the season to begin I wanted to bring a couple of items to your attention to ensure that the season runs smoothly.

Everyone should show up early and be prepared to start games and practices on time.  Players can wear sneakers or soccer cleats, but no baseball/softball or football cleats.  Shin guards must be worn for practices and games.  There should be no jewelry other than medical alerts, no exceptions (earrings can be removed from newly pierced ears and replaced after the game/practice without any issues).  These rules are for the safety of all the players.

Everyone should read the Zero Tolerance Policy ( click here to view policy) and MYS Code of Conduct (included below). We are an organization that follows these policies and expects our volunteers, players and parents to as well.  If you have any questions, please let me know because everyone will be held accountable for their actions and adherence to both policies.

Parents should cheer for their children but not try to coach them.   We have coaches to work with the players and often a parent giving advice to a player only confuses the player especially if their instructions go against what the coach has asked them to do.

Please remember youth soccer is about development, winning means absolutely nothing.

We are looking forward to a great season,

Adam Matthews
President
Marlboro Youth Soccer

Code of Conduct

  • Through submitting the membership application for my child, I also am a member of the Club, and am therefore subject to the Club's rules, and to the rules and regulations of the organizations to which the Club belongs.
  • My child plays soccer for his or her benefit, not mine.
  • I will not give instructions to players -- that is the coach's role.
  • I will never question the referee's judgment, integrity or honesty.
  • I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of soccer.
  • At all times I will show respect for the players, the coaching team, referees, and opposing players and coaches.
  • I will teach my child that doing one's best is as important as winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game.
  • I will make my child feel like a winner by offering praise for competing fairly and doing their best.
  • I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child's team and their opponents.
  • I will make sure that my child arrives for practices and games at the time designated by the coach.
  • I realize that the team can be penalized for my behavior. I will obey a request by a referee or from the team's coach to leave the vicinity of the field.

MYS Concussion Policy

Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) has accepted US Youth Soccer’s Recognize to Recover concussion program.  For complete details click here to get the policy document.

In short, if a Referee or Coach feels the player has suffered a concussion the player will be removed from the game or practice. Our Coaches have taken a concussion course and will do their best to evaluate the player. I have asked them to be conservative, so if they think the player might have a concussion they are not to allow the player to continue and are to inform the player’s guardians and the Marlboro Youth Soccer Division Director.  The player will not be allowed to play again (games or practices) until the coach is given a written release that the player has passed the Return to Play Protocol from a Health Care Provider (HCP). The release needs to allow for unrestricted play. If it states the player can participate in non-contact activities they will NOT be allowed to participate in games or practices.

We are taking a conservative and strict stance on this because it is in the best interest of the kids. We understand our coaches are not doctors and may think there is an issue when there isn’t but it is better to be safe than sorry.

MYS Spring Season

Hi Everyone,

Over the next couple of weeks you will be getting a number of emails from Coaches and Board members please make sure you read them all. There will be some very important information being distributed that will ensure everyone is kept up to date and aware of all the events, policies and procedures for this season. Email is our primary means of direct communication and our website is always updated with the latest information. We are spending a lot of time updating the website to make it easier to use and to ensure the the information is all current.

Our Coach's meeting are scheduled for March 6, 12 and 18th. Each coach will attend 1 meeting to receive information about the season. Rosters will be released to the coaches as they are completed but you should expect to hear from a coach by March 25th at the latest.

The games for Grade 3 and above are scheduled to start on April 6th and for Grade 2 and younger on April 13th.

Looking forward to a great season,
Adam
